Which calculator should you use first?

Start with TDEE: it gives you a maintenance baseline, which is the number every other calorie target is built from. Then use the macros calculator to divide those calories into protein, fat and carbohydrates for your goal. BMI is a quick screening number and the least useful of the three if you lift weights, because it cannot tell muscle from fat.

How accurate are they?

All three are estimates. Energy needs differ between individuals by 10–15% or more, so treat the output as a starting point: follow it for two or three weeks, watch your bodyweight, and adjust. The exact formulas and assumptions are documented in our calculator methodology.

Tips for better results

From numbers to a training plan

Calories and macros only work alongside a sensible program. Use the Split Finder to choose a split for your goal, then build it in the workout planner.
