High Cable Curl

The high cable curl is performed between two high pulleys with your arms out to the sides, like a double-biceps pose. The cables keep the biceps under tension in a short, fully contracted position, making it a popular finisher for arm day.

How To Perform

  1. 1 Set both pulleys to about head height and attach single handles. Stand in the middle and hold a handle in each hand with arms out to the sides.
  2. 2 Keep your upper arms level with your shoulders and your palms facing up.
  3. 3 Curl both handles toward your head, bringing your hands toward your ears.
  4. 4 Squeeze, then straighten your arms again under control.

Form Cues

  • ✓ Keep your upper arms still and level with your shoulders.
  • ✓ Lead with the hands toward your ears; do not pull the elbows down.
  • ✓ Stand upright and avoid leaning forward to start the rep.

Common Mistakes

  • ✗ Letting the elbows drop below the shoulders, which weakens the position.
  • ✗ Using momentum from the legs and torso.
  • ✗ Going so heavy that the rep becomes a pull-down.
💡 Professor Splits Says:

Progressive overload is the engine of muscle growth. Track your weights and aim to add small increments weekly. For High Cable Curl, this means gradually increasing load, volume (sets × reps), or decreasing rest periods over time.
